Don Harriss
-- keyboardist, composer and Macintosh wizard -- has become one of the music industry's most consummate, consistent and innovative new age musicians with five hit albums on the Sonic Atmospheres / Sonic Edge label.

His latest recording, Mysterium, has followed Elevations, Vanishing Point, Abacus Moon and Shell Game into the top 10 New Adult Contemporary (NAC), Adult Alternative and Progressive Adult Contemporary (PAC) national airplay charts.

Harriss' music is a dense, richly-textured, carefully-crafted sound. He writes and records with a Macintosh computer on one hand, a Bosendorfer grand piano on the other and a full array of synthesizers in between.

What makes Harriss' music so unique is his masterful blending of sounds to create new combinations that don't resemble anything that comes from standard musical instruments. These new sounds are mixed in with his grand piano playing as well as several special guests.

Don Harriss' career has built upon a diverse musical background -- early classical training, Haight-Ashbury Sixties Psychadelia, arena-size rock 'n' roll touring with the Pat Travers Band, corporate film soundtracks -- to arrive at contemporary instrumental music, and a more intimate personal sound.

"I think my music can be enjoyed both on the surface and on deeper levels," Harriss says. " I go for a lot of subtleties that may not be apparent the first time through. I like the analogy of a boat on a lake. A person can simply enjoy the sunlight reflecting off the surface and the white clouds in the cool blue sky, or they can look down into the water and see the depth and detail below. I'm trying to make the lake a little deeper, a bit more blue in color each time I compose."

Peace,
Don Harriss
